APNG to MP4 Converter
The APNG to MP4 Converter turns animated PNG files into H.264 MP4 videos that play in almost any video player and on platforms that do not accept APNG. Each frame keeps its original timing, and several files convert in one go, so photographers can share animated previews, cinemagraphs or short slideshows as standard video files.

Frequently asked questions
How does the APNG to MP4 Converter work?
Your browser decodes the APNG into complete frames, each with its own display time. The tool then encodes those frames as H.264 video with the browser's built-in video encoder and writes them into an MP4 file. H.264 MP4 is the most widely supported video format, so the result plays on phones, computers, televisions and social platforms. The video has no audio track, since APNG files do not contain sound.
How do I convert APNG files to MP4?
Click the file area and select one or more .png or .apng files. Each is listed as Ready. Click Convert to MP4, and the tool converts them one after another: each shows Converting and then Done, and its MP4 downloads automatically with the same name and an .mp4 extension. If a file cannot be converted, the error appears next to it and the rest of the list continues.
Does the MP4 keep the animation's timing, and does it loop?
Each frame stays on screen for the delay set in the APNG, so the video runs at the same pace as the animation. Frames with no delay information get 100 milliseconds, and the shortest frame allowed is 10 milliseconds. A still PNG becomes a one-second clip. The MP4 plays the animation through once; MP4 files do not loop by themselves, so turn on looping in the player, website or platform where you show it.
What happens to transparency and image size?
H.264 video cannot store transparency, so transparent areas of the APNG are filled with black. If you want a different background, flatten the animation onto that color before converting. The video keeps the animation's dimensions, except that H.264 needs even numbers, so an odd width or height gains one pixel. The bit rate scales with the frame size. Very large animations may exceed what your browser's encoder supports, in which case the tool says so.
Which browsers can convert APNG to MP4?
The conversion uses your browser's built-in image decoder and video encoder, which recent versions of Chrome, Edge and Firefox provide. If your browser lacks them, each file shows a message asking you to switch browsers rather than producing a broken file. Once converted, the MP4 plays almost everywhere, including Safari, iPhones and Android phones, so you only need a supported browser for the conversion step.
Is the APNG to MP4 Converter free and private?
Yes. It is free, adds no watermark and needs no software. Decoding and encoding both happen in your browser on your own device, so your animations never leave it. The first time, you confirm you're a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account, which unlocks this tool and every other one on the site.
