SVG to PNG Converter

The SVG to PNG Converter renders vector logos, watermarks and graphics as PNG images with their transparent backgrounds intact. Photographers can add several SVG files and choose a scale factor from 1x to 10x the SVG's own size, so a small logo can become a large, sharp PNG for overlays, websites or print, all in the browser.

Frequently asked questions

What is an SVG file and why would a photographer need to convert it?

SVG is a vector format that describes a graphic as shapes and text, so it stays sharp at any size. Logos and watermarks are often delivered as SVG. Many places photographers use them, such as editing software watermark settings, gallery platforms, social media and some website builders, expect a PNG instead. Converting gives you a PNG that keeps your logo's transparent background and can be made as large as you need.

How do I use the SVG to PNG Converter to process my graphic files?

Drag SVG files onto the upload area or click to choose them; only SVG files are added. Set the Resolution Scale Factor slider from 1x, the SVG's own size, up to 10x. Click Convert to PNG and each file is rendered in turn, marked Done, and downloaded as a PNG with the original name. Clear All empties the list. One scale factor applies to every file in the batch.

How does a PNG differ from an SVG for photography workflows?

An SVG can be resized endlessly without losing quality, but many photo editors, gallery platforms and social networks cannot place it. A PNG is a fixed grid of pixels that almost every application accepts, and like the SVG it can keep a transparent background, which is what you need for a watermark over a photo. The trade-off is that a PNG has one size, so create it at least as large as you will use it.

When should I convert a vector graphic instead of keeping it in its original format?

Keep the SVG as your master file and for anything that accepts it, such as many website builders and design tools. Convert when a program or platform only takes raster images: watermark settings in editing software, client gallery branding, social profiles or print order forms. Decide the size you need first, then pick a scale factor that produces at least that many pixels, because enlarging the PNG later softens it.

Why is the SVG to PNG Converter preserving the transparent background of my logo?

That is intentional. PNG supports transparency, and the converter draws your SVG onto a clear canvas, so any area without artwork stays transparent in the PNG. This is what lets a logo or watermark sit cleanly over a photograph or a colored page. If you want a solid background instead, add a background shape to the SVG before converting, or use an SVG to JPG conversion, which fills transparent areas with a color you choose.

Why does my converted image look pixelated when I zoom in closely?

A PNG is made of a fixed number of pixels, so zooming past its actual size enlarges those pixels. The SVG itself has no pixels, which is why it looked sharp. At 1x, the PNG is the size defined in the SVG, which may be small. Convert again with a higher scale factor, up to 10x, to get more pixels. For example, an SVG defined at 500 pixels wide becomes 5000 pixels wide at 10x.

What happens to the color profile of my graphic during the conversion process?

Your browser renders the SVG in standard RGB and the converter saves a standard RGB PNG with transparency. Colors defined in the SVG are reproduced as the browser displays them, and applications treat the PNG as sRGB, which is right for screens and the web. The converter does not create CMYK files, so if a commercial printer needs CMYK, convert the PNG in an application that supports it, using your printer's profile.

How can I ensure the highest quality output for a large photography print?

Work out the pixel size you need: multiply the print width in inches by the resolution your lab recommends, often 300 pixels per inch. Then choose a scale factor that reaches it. An SVG defined at 800 pixels wide gives 8000 pixels at 10x, enough for about 26 inches at 300 pixels per inch. If 10x is not enough, enlarge the width and height in the SVG itself before converting, rather than enlarging the PNG afterwards.

What should I do if the SVG to PNG Converter fails to process my file?

A file marked Error is usually not a valid SVG; open it in a browser or design app to check. Fonts and images that the SVG links to from elsewhere cannot load during conversion, so convert text to outlines and embed images before exporting. Very large scale factors on large SVGs can exceed what your browser can draw, so try a lower scale. If the PNG is empty or tiny, check that the SVG has width, height or a viewBox set.

Can this tool be used for batch processing watermarks for a wedding gallery?

It can convert several watermark SVGs to PNG at once, for example light and dark versions of your logo, all at the same scale factor. It does not place the watermark on your photos. Use the resulting transparent PNGs in your editing software's watermark settings or your gallery platform's branding options, which then apply them across the whole wedding gallery during export or delivery.
