JXL to PNG Converter

JPEG XL is a modern, efficient format, but many apps and websites still cannot open it. PNG is supported everywhere and is lossless, so converting gives you a universally compatible file without adding compression artifacts. PNG also keeps transparency, which matters for logos, cut-outs and graphics stored as JPEG XL.

Click the area at the top and choose your .jxl images. Each file is listed as Ready and the Convert to PNG button becomes active. Click it and the files are converted in turn, each showing Processing and then Done as its PNG downloads with the original name. Allow multiple downloads if your browser asks.

The PNG stores the image exactly as it is decoded from the JPEG XL file, with no further compression loss. If the JXL was saved in a lossy mode, its existing compression stays visible, because no converter can restore it. The output is 8 bits per channel, so higher bit depth in the source is reduced, and PNGs are usually larger than the original JXL files.

Only a current web browser. Most browsers cannot open JPEG XL by themselves, so the tool includes its own JPEG XL decoder, which loads the first time you convert; the first file may take a few extra seconds. If a file shows Could not read this JPEG XL file, check that it is a genuine, undamaged .jxl image. Everything runs locally on your device.

Choose PNG when you need lossless quality for further editing, or when the image has transparency, such as a logo or product cut-out. Choose JPG for finished photographs you are sharing or delivering, where a much smaller file matters more. Both formats open on practically any device, unlike JPEG XL today.
