Resize to 24x36 Poster
Prepare a large 24x36 inch poster file straight from your photo. This free tool scales your image to fill a 7200 x 10800 pixel portrait canvas at 300 DPI, crops any overflow from the center and saves a maximum-quality JPG. Because 24x36 shares the 2:3 shape of most camera sensors, vertical frames usually fit untouched.

Frequently asked questions
What pixel size is a 24x36 poster at 300 DPI?
A 24 x 36 inch poster at 300 DPI needs 7200 x 10800 pixels, a 2:3 ratio. This tool produces exactly that canvas in portrait orientation and saves it as a JPG at maximum quality, named Poster_24x36_ followed by your original file name, ready to send to a poster printer or print lab.
How do I resize my photo to 24x36?
Click the area labeled Drop image here or click to select and choose one photo. Its name appears with a Ready status. Press Resize to 24x36. The status shows Resizing while the large canvas is built, then the JPG downloads and the status changes to Complete. Select another file to create the next poster.
Will my photo be cropped?
Only if its shape differs from 2:3. The tool scales the image to cover the whole canvas and trims the overflow evenly from the center, never stretching it. A vertical 3:2 camera frame fits exactly. A horizontal photo is cropped to a vertical slice, so rotate it 90 degrees in your editor first if you want a landscape poster.
Is my camera file big enough for a 24x36 poster?
Most camera files are smaller than 7200 x 10800 pixels, so the tool enlarges them to fit the canvas. That gives the printer the right dimensions but cannot add new detail. Posters are viewed from a distance, which hides a lot of softness, and a sharp, well-exposed original makes the biggest difference to the final print.
Which file types work, and does size matter?
Any image your browser can open is accepted, including JPG, PNG and WebP, and the output is always JPG. The 24x36 canvas holds about 78 million pixels, which needs a lot of memory, so use a desktop or laptop browser, close other heavy tabs and allow a few moments for the download to start.
Is the 24x36 poster resizer free and private?
Yes. It is free, with no watermark and nothing to install. The photo is processed in your browser and stays on your own device; it is never uploaded. The first time you use it, you confirm you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account, which unlocks every tool in the collection.
