Frequently asked questions
What size does the 12x12 album tool output?
Each image becomes a square of 1152 x 1152 pixels, which is 12 inches at 96 pixels per inch, a screen resolution. The files are JPGs at 95 percent quality, named Album_12x12_ followed by the original file name. That size is well suited to layout planning, client previews and on-screen album proofs.
Can I send these files straight to an album printer?
For a full-page print, usually not. A 12 x 12 inch page at 300 DPI needs 3600 x 3600 pixels, and these files are 1152 pixels square. They work best for designing spreads, showing clients a draft, or placing smaller images on a page. For the final print files, export full-resolution squares from your editor or album design software.
How do I use the 12x12 album resizer?
Click the area labeled Select Images for 12x12 Album and choose one or more photos. They appear in a list with a Pending status. Press Resize to 12x12. The tool processes each image in turn, downloading every square JPG automatically and marking it Done when finished. Your browser may ask once for permission to download multiple files, which you can allow.
How are my photos cropped to a square?
Each photo is scaled until it fills the square, keeping its proportions, then trimmed evenly from both sides. A horizontal image loses its left and right edges, and a vertical image loses its top and bottom. Nothing is stretched. If an important element sits near the edge, crop that photo to a square manually before running the batch.
Which formats does it accept?
Any image format your browser can open is supported, including JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF, and you can select many files at once. All outputs are JPGs. Transparent areas in PNG files are filled with white, which matches a typical album page background. Start from edited, full-resolution exports so each square is reduced rather than enlarged.
Is the album resizer free, and are my photos private?
Yes. It is free, adds no watermark and needs no installation. All resizing runs in your browser, so client photos stay on your device and are never uploaded. The first time you use it, you confirm you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account, which unlocks every tool in the collection.
