Frequently asked questions
What is A1 size in pixels at 300 DPI?
A1 paper measures 594 x 841 millimeters, about 23.4 x 33.1 inches. At 300 DPI, the usual target for sharp prints, that equals 7016 x 9933 pixels. This tool always produces exactly that canvas in portrait orientation, saved as a JPG at 95 percent quality and named A1_ followed by your original file name.
How do I resize a photo to A1?
Click the area labeled Drag & Drop or Click to Upload and select your photo. It appears in the list with a Ready status. Press Resize to A1. The tool builds the full A1 canvas, places your image on it and downloads the JPG, and the status changes to Download Ready. Large canvases can take a moment to process.
Will my image be cropped?
No. The whole photo is scaled to fit inside the A1 sheet and centered, and any remaining space is filled with white. A1 has a ratio of about 1:1.41, so a vertical 3:2 photo gets narrow white bands at the top and bottom. A horizontal photo gets much wider bands because the canvas is always portrait. Crop to the A-series ratio first for an edge-to-edge print.
Is my photo high enough resolution for an A1 print?
The tool scales your image to fill the A1 canvas, so anything smaller than 7016 x 9933 pixels is enlarged. That gives the printer the exact file size it expects, but it cannot add detail the camera did not capture. Posters are usually viewed from a few feet away, which is forgiving, yet the sharpest prints still come from your highest-resolution export.
Which file formats can I use?
Any image your browser can open is accepted, such as JPG, PNG and WebP. The tool works on one image at a time and always outputs a JPG, the format most print labs and large-format services accept. Because the A1 canvas holds about 70 million pixels, a desktop or laptop browser handles it most reliably.
Is the A1 photo resizer free and private?
It is free, adds no watermark and needs no software. All processing happens in your browser, so your photo stays on your device and is never uploaded. On your first visit you confirm you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account, which unlocks every tool in the collection.
