Frequently asked questions
What does resizing to 1280x720 mean?
1280 x 720 pixels is the 720p HD resolution with a 16:9 widescreen ratio. It is a common size for video thumbnails, presentation slides and web banners. This tool outputs exactly that size for every image you add, saved as a JPG at 90 percent quality and named resized_1280x720_ followed by the original file name.
How do I resize multiple images to 1280x720?
Click the area marked Click to upload or drag images here and select one or more photos. Each appears in the list with a Target of 1280x720 and a Ready status. Press Resize All Images. The tool works through the list, showing Resizing and then Done for each file as it downloads automatically.
Are my photos cropped or stretched?
They are cropped, never stretched. Each photo keeps its proportions and is scaled until it fully covers the 1280 x 720 frame, then any overflow is trimmed equally from both sides. A standard 3:2 camera image loses a thin band from the top and bottom, while a vertical portrait loses much more, so horizontal frames work best.
Which formats can I upload?
Any image your browser can decode is accepted, typically JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF, and AVIF in modern browsers. Every result is saved as a JPG. Start with photos at least 1280 pixels wide so they are reduced rather than enlarged, which keeps edges crisp in the final 720p image.
How can photographers use 1280x720 images?
This size is ideal for thumbnails on video platforms, behind-the-scenes clip covers, client slideshow frames and widescreen previews on a website. It is large enough to look sharp on most screens yet keeps files small, so pages and presentations load quickly. Pick frames with the subject near the center so the 16:9 crop keeps what matters.
Is this 1280x720 resizer free and private?
It is free, with no watermark and no installation needed. All processing runs in your browser, so your photos stay on your device and are never uploaded. The first time you use it, you confirm you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account, which then unlocks every tool in the collection.
