Resize for Viber
Resize for Viber prepares photos for three Viber spots: a 400x400 profile picture, a 1000x1000 chat image and a 720x1280 chat background. Choose Fill Area to crop from the center or Fit Entire Image to keep everything with white borders, set the quality, and resize a batch of photos into JPGs for sharing sneak peeks with clients.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Resize for Viber tool?
Resize for Viber is a free browser tool that adjusts photos to three sizes for the Viber messaging app: Profile Picture at 400 by 400 pixels, Chat Message at 1000 by 1000 and Chat Background at 720 by 1280. Each photo is either cropped to fill the frame or fitted inside it with white borders, then saved as a JPG. It gives photographers sharing previews with clients a quick way to send images at a predictable size.
How do I use Resize for Viber to optimize my photos?
Click the upload area or drag your photos onto it; you can add several. Under Viber Format, pick Profile Picture, Chat Message or Chat Background. Under Image Fitting, choose Fill Area (Crop) or Fit Entire Image, and set the Output Quality slider, which starts at 85 percent. Click Resize Images, and each photo downloads as a JPG named with Viber_, the format and your original file name.
Why do my high-resolution photos look blurry when sent through messaging apps?
Messaging apps compress photos so they send quickly over mobile networks. When you send a large file straight from your camera or editing software, the app shrinks its pixel count and applies heavy compression, which can add artifacts, color banding and softness. Resizing to a sensible size first, at a quality you choose, means the app has less to change, so what your client sees stays closer to what you sent.
When should a professional photographer use this resizing utility?
Use it when you want to send sneak peeks, behind-the-scenes shots or quick portfolio updates to clients through Viber. Final galleries are usually delivered through a dedicated client gallery, but messaging apps are where quick updates happen. Sending images at a tidy size and good quality, rather than huge originals, keeps those casual previews looking professional on the client's phone, and a matching profile picture helps too.
What should I do if my resized image still exceeds the maximum file size?
Lower the Output Quality slider and resize again. The tool already limits the pixel size to 400, 1000 or 720 by 1280 pixels depending on the format, so the file is usually small, but highly detailed photos with fine texture compress less. Dropping the quality a little, to around 75 or 80 percent, is rarely noticeable on a phone screen and shrinks the file noticeably. Then send the new file, not the original.
How does Resize for Viber differ from standard photo editing software?
Desktop editing software offers comprehensive tools for color correction, retouching and batch exporting, but you have to look up the sizes for each app and set up a crop and export preset yourself. Resize for Viber has its three sizes built in, along with crop and fit options, so you pick a format and download the results in a few clicks. It suits quickly formatting finished images for mobile delivery without opening a desktop application.
What are the optimal dimensions for a profile picture on this platform?
Profile pictures are square, and this tool makes them 400 by 400 pixels. The app usually displays them in a circle, so keep your subject in the center of the frame, where Fill Area (Crop) keeps it. There is no on-screen crop guide, so if your subject is off to one side, crop the photo to a square around it in your editor first, then resize it here.
Why is my image getting cropped incorrectly after using the tool?
Cropping happens when your photo's shape differs from the chosen format, for example a wide landscape going into a square profile picture. With Fill Area (Crop), the tool keeps the center and trims the edges, which can cut off an off-center subject. Switch to Fit Entire Image to keep the whole photo with white borders, or crop the photo in your editor so the subject sits in the middle before resizing.
Can I process multiple images at once using this utility?
Yes. Select several photos at once or drag a group onto the upload area, and they all join the list. When you click Resize Images, every photo is processed in turn with the format, fitting mode and quality currently selected, and each downloads as its own JPG. Clear All empties the list so you can start a new batch in a different format.
Are my original photographs stored anywhere after processing?
No. The resizing runs entirely in your web browser, on your own device, so your photos are never sent anywhere and there is nothing to delete when you finish. Professional photographers handle sensitive, unreleased client images, and this keeps them private. Your originals are not changed either; the tool only creates new resized copies in your downloads. To use it, you confirm once that you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account.
