Resize for Amazon

Resize for Amazon turns product photos into square JPGs sized for Amazon listings. Choose 1000, 1500 or 2000 pixels, set the JPEG quality, and the tool scales each photo to fit the square, filling the leftover space with pure white so nothing is cropped or stretched. Process a whole batch of product shots in one go.

Frequently asked questions

What are the exact image size requirements for Amazon product listings?

Amazon asks for product images at least 1,000 pixels on the longest side so shoppers can use hover-to-zoom, and many sellers aim for around 2,000 pixels for sharper zoom. The main image must show the product on a pure white background. JPEG is the preferred format, and Amazon also lists caps on file size and maximum dimensions. Rules change over time, so check Seller Central's current image guidelines. This tool covers the size side with 1000, 1500 and 2000 pixel squares.

How do I use Resize for Amazon to prepare my product photography?

Click the upload area or drag your product photos onto it; you can add several at once. Under Amazon Target Dimensions, choose 1000x1000, 1500x1500 or 2000x2000 pixels, then set JPEG Output Quality between 50 and 100 percent. Click Export for Amazon. Each photo is scaled to fit the square, centered on a white background and downloaded as a JPG named with Amazon_, the size and your original file name, ready to upload to Seller Central.

Why is it necessary to resize my images specifically for the Amazon marketplace?

Amazon enforces technical guidelines for all sellers. Images below the minimum size lose the zoom feature, and images that break the main image rules can be rejected or keep a listing from showing properly. A consistent square format also makes your product grid look tidy next to other results. Preparing every photo at the same square size, on white, with sensible compression, means fewer surprises when you upload and a more professional storefront.

What should I do if my resized image loses quality or appears pixelated?

If your image appears pixelated after resizing, the original was probably smaller than the size you chose. The tool scales every photo to fill the square along its longest side, so a 500-pixel image exported at 2000 pixels is enlarged four times and will look soft. Start from the full-resolution file from your camera or editor, or pick a smaller target. If you see blocky artifacts instead, raise the JPEG Output Quality setting and export again.

How does Resize for Amazon compare to standard photo editing software like Photoshop?

Desktop editing software can do everything this tool does and much more, but you have to set up the canvas size, background and export settings yourself, often as a saved action for batches. Resize for Amazon has the square sizes and white background built in, so preparing a batch is a matter of picking a size and quality and clicking export. Use your editor for retouching and this tool for the final sizing step.

When should I apply the resizing step in my photography post-production workflow?

Resizing should always be the final step in your post-production workflow. First, complete color correction, exposure adjustments, dust removal and any background work in your main editing software. A pure white background is essential for Amazon main images. Once retouching is done and the master file is saved at full resolution, run the export through this tool. Your masters stay untouched, and you get separate files made specifically for your Amazon listing.

Does the tool automatically change the background of my photos to pure white?

Only around the photo, not behind the product. When your image is not square, the empty space on the sides or top and bottom is filled with pure white, and transparent areas in a PNG also turn white. The tool does not remove or replace the background inside the photo itself. Amazon requires the main image to have a pure white background, so shoot on white or replace the background in your editing software before resizing.

Why is Resize for Amazon rejecting my uploaded image file?

The tool only accepts files your browser recognizes as images, and it can only process the ones your browser can open, such as JPG, PNG and WebP. Camera RAW files, PSD files and TIFF files are not readable in a browser, so they will not export. Convert them to a high-quality JPG or PNG in your editing software first. If a normal JPG will not process, the file may be damaged, so try exporting it again.

Can I process multiple product images at the same time?

Yes. Select several files at once, or drag a group of them onto the upload area, and they all join the list. Every file gets the same square size and JPEG quality when you click Export for Amazon. Each one is processed in turn and downloads as its own JPG, with the size and your original file name in its name, so alternate views and lifestyle shots stay easy to match up when you upload them.

How do I ensure my images maintain the correct aspect ratio without distortion?

The tool never stretches or crops your photo. It scales the longest side to the square size you chose, keeps the original proportions, and centers the result on a white square, adding equal white margins on the shorter sides. A square photo fills the frame completely, while a tall or wide one gets white bars. If you would rather have less white space, crop the photo closer to square in your editor before exporting.
