Photo Barrel Distortion Fix
Photo Barrel Distortion Fix straightens the outward bowing that wide-angle lenses add to horizons, walls, and door frames. Photographers load an image, set the Distortion Correction Strength slider, and click Apply & Download. The tool remaps the photo around its center with a radial correction and saves the result as a full-resolution PNG.

Frequently asked questions
What is barrel distortion?
Barrel distortion makes straight lines bow outward from the center of the frame, as if the image were wrapped around a barrel. It is most common with wide-angle lenses and the short end of zooms, and it shows up clearly on horizons, buildings, door frames, and walls near the edges of a photo. Correcting it makes architecture and interiors look natural again.
How do I fix barrel distortion with this tool?
Drop an image onto the Drop Image or Click to Upload area, or click it to choose a file. When the photo loads, the Distortion Correction Strength slider appears with its value shown below. Move it between -0.5 and 0.5 in steps of 0.01, then click Apply & Download. The corrected photo is saved as corrected-photo.png at the original pixel dimensions.
Which slider value should I use?
Start small, around 0.05 to 0.1 in either direction, apply it, and check a straight line near the edge of the frame, such as a horizon or wall. One direction reduces the outward bulge of barrel distortion and the other increases it, so if lines bend more, try the opposite sign. Zero leaves the photo unchanged. Most lenses need only a modest correction.
Will the corrected photo have empty edges?
Possibly. The correction moves pixels toward or away from the center, so at stronger settings some areas near the edges have no source pixels and are left transparent in the PNG. Crop the corrected image slightly to remove them. The tool uses the nearest source pixel for each output pixel, which is fast; extreme corrections can look slightly less smooth in fine detail.
When is a manual barrel distortion fix useful?
It helps when your editor has no lens profile for your glass, such as adapted, vintage, or less common lenses, or when you need to fix a single photo quickly. Real estate, interiors, and architectural images benefit most. For a full gallery from one lens, use the same correction value on each frame so straight lines look consistent across the set.
Is the Barrel Distortion Fix free and private?
Yes. It is free, adds no watermark, and needs no installation. The photo is corrected on your own device inside the browser and is never uploaded. To unlock the tools, you confirm you are a photographer and create or log into a free account once, after which every tool is available.
