Frequently asked questions
What resolution is an 11x17 print at 300 DPI?
An 11 x 17 inch sheet at 300 DPI needs 3300 x 5100 pixels, which is exactly what this tool produces. The output is a portrait JPG at 95 percent quality, named 11x17_ followed by your original file name. 11x17 is also called tabloid or ledger size and is widely available at print shops.
How do I resize a photo for an 11x17 print?
Click the area labeled Click or Drop Image to Resize and select one photo. Its name appears with a Ready status. Press Convert to 11x17. The tool places the image on the 11x17 canvas, downloads the JPG and updates the status to Done. Select another file afterwards to prepare the next print.
Will my photo be cropped?
No. The full image is scaled to fit within the 11x17 canvas and centered, with white filling any extra space. An 11x17 sheet is slightly longer than a 3:2 camera frame, so a vertical photo gets thin white bands top and bottom. A horizontal photo gets wide bands, because the canvas is portrait. Crop to 11:17 first for a borderless result.
Which formats can I upload?
Any image your browser can open is accepted, such as JPG, PNG and WebP. The result is always a JPG, which every print shop accepts. Transparent areas in PNG files are filled with white. Using your full-resolution export gives the printer the most real detail to work with, since smaller images are enlarged to fill the canvas.
What can photographers use 11x17 prints for?
11x17 is a practical size for event posters, studio promotions, wall prints in a home office and proof sheets that show a selection of images. It fits common frames and is easy to produce at most print shops. Because it is a standard size, it is also an inexpensive way to test how a photo holds up when printed larger.
Is the 11x17 print resizer free?
It is free, with no watermark and nothing to install. The resizing happens in your browser, so your photo stays on your device and is never uploaded. On first use you confirm you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account, which unlocks every tool. Imagen also makes AI editing software that learns how you edit.
