Frequently asked questions

What resolution is an 18x24 print at 300 DPI?

An 18 x 24 inch print at 300 DPI needs 5400 x 7200 pixels, a 3:4 ratio. This tool outputs exactly that size in portrait orientation as a JPG at 95 percent quality, named 18x24_ followed by your original file name. That gives the print lab a file that matches the paper size precisely, with no scaling on their end.

How do I resize a photo for an 18x24 print?

Click the area labeled Select or Drop Images and choose your photo. It appears in the list with a Ready status. Press Resize to 18x24. The tool scales and crops the image to the 18x24 canvas and downloads the JPG, then shows Ready to Download. To prepare another print, click the upload area again and select the next file.

How much of my photo will be cropped?

The photo is scaled to cover the whole 3:4 canvas, keeping its proportions, and the overflow is trimmed evenly. A vertical 3:2 camera frame is a little taller than 3:4, so it loses a small strip from the top and bottom. A horizontal photo is cropped to a vertical slice from its center, so rotate it in your editor first if you want a landscape print.

Which formats can I use?

Any image your browser can open is accepted, such as JPG, PNG and WebP. The output is always a JPG at 95 percent quality, which print labs accept everywhere. Since the canvas holds nearly 39 million pixels, start from a full-resolution export so the image is reduced or only gently enlarged, which keeps the print crisp.

When is 18x24 the right print size?

18x24 is a standard poster and frame size, large enough to anchor a wall above a sofa or desk without overwhelming the room. Photographers use it for portrait wall art, event posters, studio displays and gallery-style client prints. Standard 18x24 frames are easy to find, which keeps framing affordable for clients.
