What does the 2x3 print tool do?
It crops each photo to a 2:3 aspect ratio, two units wide for every three tall, keeping the crop centered. The image is not resampled, so a crop from a large camera file keeps all of its original detail. Files download as JPGs at 95 percent quality, named 2x3_ followed by the original file name.
How do I crop photos to 2:3 with this tool?
Click the area labeled Drop images to resize for 2x3 print and select one or more photos. Each appears in the list with a 2:3 Ratio target and a Ready status. Press Resize & Download. The tool crops every image in turn, downloads the JPGs automatically and marks each file Done.
Which print sizes use a 2:3 ratio?
Any print where the long side is one and a half times the short side: 4x6, 8x12, 12x18, 16x24, 20x30 and 24x36 inches are the most common. Because the file keeps its original resolution, you can use the same cropped image for any of these sizes, as long as it has enough pixels for the largest print you order.
What happens to horizontal photos?
The output is always vertical, so a horizontal photo is cropped to a tall slice from its center. A vertical frame from a 3:2 camera is already 2:3 and passes through without any visible crop. For a horizontal print, rotate the photo 90 degrees in your editor first; print labs treat a 2:3 file as 3:2 when printed in landscape.
Which file formats are supported?
Any image your browser can open is accepted, including JPG, PNG and WebP, and you can process many at once. Output is always a JPG at 95 percent quality. Because the crop keeps the original resolution, the files can be large when you start from full-size camera exports, which is exactly what print labs want.
