JPG to EPS Converter
The JPG to EPS Converter wraps JPEG photos in Encapsulated PostScript for photographers whose printer, publisher or layout workflow asks for EPS files. Each photo is stored as an uncompressed RGB image inside a PostScript Level 2 file, at its original pixel size. It is a format conversion, not vector tracing, and it runs in your browser.

Frequently asked questions
What is the JPG to EPS Converter and how does it work?
It turns JPEG files into Encapsulated PostScript. The tool decodes each photo in your browser and writes its pixels into an EPS file as an RGB image, with a bounding box matching the image's pixel dimensions. It does not vectorize the photograph; it repackages it so it can be placed in vector and desktop publishing workflows. It is useful when a printer or publication requires EPS for its layout process.
Why would a photographer need to convert a JPG to an EPS file?
Photographers usually work with raw, TIFF and JPG files, but some commercial printers, designers and publishing houses still ask for EPS when placing images in page layouts, especially in older production workflows. Converting your JPG gives you a file in the required format without installing design software. It is mainly worth doing when a client or print vendor specifically names EPS as the delivery format.
How do I use the JPG to EPS Converter on Imagen AI?
Drag JPG files onto the drop area or click it to choose them; you can add several and keep adding more. Each file appears in the list as Ready, with its size. Click Convert to EPS and the files are processed in turn, showing Processing and then Converted as each .eps file downloads automatically with the original name. Click Clear Files to start again. Nothing needs to be installed.
What is the difference between a JPG and an EPS file?
A JPG is a raster format with lossy compression, the standard for digital photos and screen display. EPS, Encapsulated PostScript, is a graphics format from print production. It is best known for vector artwork, but it can also carry raster images such as photographs. In practice, JPGs are made for viewing and sharing, while EPS files are made to be placed into layouts and sent to PostScript printing systems.
Why is my converted EPS file so much larger than the original JPG?
That is expected. JPG compresses photographic data very efficiently. The EPS files this tool writes store every pixel uncompressed, written as plain text hexadecimal so the file stays printable and portable, which takes about two characters per byte. A photo can therefore become an EPS many times the size of the JPG. If file transfer limits are a concern, zip the EPS before sending it, since it compresses well.
Will converting my JPG to EPS turn my photograph into a scalable vector graphic?
No. The conversion does not trace your photo into vector shapes. It places the existing pixels inside an EPS container, so the result is still a raster image and will lose quality if it is enlarged beyond its resolution. True vectorization, turning shapes into mathematical paths, needs tracing software and suits logos and line art far better than photographs. This converter is for format compatibility only.
What should I do if the JPG to EPS Converter fails to process my file?
First check that the file is a genuine JPG: the tool accepts JPEG images only, and a file that was simply renamed to .jpg will not decode. Very large photos need a lot of memory, because every pixel is written out as text, so a browser may struggle with them; resizing the image or closing other tabs helps. Refreshing the page or trying a different browser often clears a stuck conversion.
Does the conversion process affect the resolution or color profile of my photograph?
The pixel dimensions stay exactly the same. The EPS bounding box gives one point per pixel, so a layout program places it at 72 pixels per inch at first; scale it to the size you need, for example to about 24 percent for 300 pixels per inch. Colors are written as plain device RGB and any embedded ICC profile is not carried over, so convert to the color space your printer expects beforehand.
Are my photographs secure when I convert them?
Yes. The whole conversion runs in your web browser on your own device. Your JPG is read locally, the EPS is generated locally and saved straight to your computer, and neither file leaves your device at any point. That makes the tool suitable for client work and unpublished images. It is also free, with no watermark added to your files.
Can I open the resulting EPS file in standard photo editing software?
EPS is an industry-standard print format, but basic photo viewers often cannot display it. Professional image editors can open and rasterize EPS files, and page layout and vector design programs can import and place them. The files this tool writes contain no separate low-resolution preview, so some programs show a gray box or placeholder until the file is printed or rasterized. That is normal for EPS files without a preview.
