EXR to JPG Converter
The EXR to JPG Converter turns OpenEXR renders and HDR merges into JPGs that photographers can share with clients or post online. It reads each EXR in your browser, tone-maps its high dynamic range to a normal screen image with automatic exposure, and saves it as a JPG at the quality you choose, several files at a time.

Frequently asked questions
What is an EXR file?
EXR, or OpenEXR, is a high-dynamic-range image format developed for visual effects and 3D rendering. It stores brightness values far beyond what a normal screen or print can show, which makes it ideal for compositing and HDR work. Most photo viewers, browsers and social platforms cannot display EXR files, so converting them to JPG makes them easy to share and review.
How do I convert EXR to JPG?
Click the area labeled Drop EXR files here or click to upload and choose one or more .exr files. The JPEG Quality slider and the file list appear, with each file marked Ready. Set the quality, then press Convert to JPG. Each file shows Converting and then Done, and every JPG downloads with the original name and a .jpg extension. The converter reads single-part scanline EXRs saved with ZIP, ZIPS, RLE or no compression. For PIZ, PXR24, B44 or DWA compression, or tiled, multi-part or deep files, the status explains what to re-save.
Which JPEG quality setting should I choose?
The slider runs from 1 to 100 percent and starts at 90, a good balance of detail and file size for client previews, web galleries and social posts. Choose 95 to 100 when the JPG will be printed or edited further. Lower values produce smaller files but can introduce visible blockiness, especially in skies and smooth gradients.
Will the converted JPG keep the full dynamic range of the EXR?
No. JPG is an 8-bit format designed for standard displays, so it cannot store the extended brightness range an EXR holds. The converter tone-maps each image instead: it sets exposure from the scene's average brightness, compresses highlights with a Reinhard curve so the brightest pixel lands on white, and applies the standard sRGB curve. The result is a viewable version for sharing and review. Keep the original EXR as your master file whenever you need to re-grade, composite or recover highlight and shadow detail later.
Can I convert multiple EXR files at once?
Yes. You can select several EXR files together and convert them all with one click, using the same quality setting. Each file is processed in turn with its own status, and each JPG downloads separately when it is ready. Your browser may ask once to allow multiple downloads, which lets the rest of the batch save automatically.
Is the EXR to JPG Converter free and private?
Yes. It is free, adds no watermark and needs no software. Your EXR files are converted in your browser on your own device and are never uploaded anywhere, which keeps unreleased renders and client work private. To start, you confirm once that you are a photographer and create or log in to a free Imagen account, unlocking every tool.
