Focus Stacking Online
Focus Stacking Online helps macro, product and landscape photographers get front-to-back sharpness from a set of shots focused at different depths. Load two or more frames, and the tool compares local sharpness pixel by pixel, keeps the crispest detail from each image, and saves a single stacked PNG, all inside your browser.

Frequently asked questions
What does focus stacking online do?
It combines several photos of the same scene, each focused at a different distance, into one image that is sharp across the whole frame. For every pixel the tool measures local contrast with a Laplacian edge filter, picks the frame where that spot is sharpest, and copies its color into the result. The finished stack downloads as stacked-image.png, ready for retouching or export.
How do I stack my photos with this tool?
Click the upload area or drag your files onto it, then select all the frames in your focus series at once. Each file appears in the list as Pending. When at least two images are loaded, the Stack Images button becomes active. Click it, wait while each frame changes to Processed, and the merged PNG downloads to your device automatically.
Do my images need to be aligned and the same size?
Yes. The tool does not align or scale frames, so it works best with a series shot on a tripod with the camera locked in place and identical image dimensions. The output takes the width and height of the first image you select. Handheld bursts with shifting framing or focus breathing can leave ghosting or soft seams, so align them beforehand if needed.
How many images should I use in a focus stack?
Two frames is the minimum, but most macro and product shots benefit from more. Choose enough focus steps that the zones of sharp focus overlap from the nearest point to the farthest one. Every frame is processed at full resolution in your browser, so long stacks of large files take longer and need more memory; test with smaller exports first if needed.
When is focus stacking useful in a photography workflow?
It solves the depth of field problem in macro, jewelry, food and product photography, and in landscapes with close foreground detail. Instead of stopping down to f/22 and losing sharpness to diffraction, shoot several frames at the lens's sharpest aperture and stack them. Export every frame with identical edits first, so color and exposure match across the stack.
Is the focus stacking tool free, and are my photos private?
It is free, with no watermark and nothing to install. Your images are processed entirely in your browser on your own device and are never uploaded. The first time you open one of the tools, you confirm you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account; after that, every tool is unlocked.
