CUBE LUT Converter
CUBE LUT Converter turns a .cube color lookup table into a plain .txt copy or a structured .json file. Photographers and editors use the TXT option to share LUTs through systems that block unfamiliar file types, and the JSON option to load a LUT's numbers into scripts, web galleries or custom preview tools.

Frequently asked questions
What does the CUBE LUT Converter do?
It takes a .cube LUT file and saves it in another format: a plain .txt file or a structured .json file. The TXT option keeps the LUT content exactly as it is with a new extension. The JSON option reads the numeric rows of the LUT, leaving out comment lines and keywords such as TITLE and LUT_3D_SIZE, and writes each row as an array of numbers, together with a name taken from the original file name.
How do I convert a CUBE LUT step by step?
Click the area labeled Drop CUBE LUT file here and choose a .cube file from your computer; the tool converts one file at a time. Its name appears, along with the Format Conversion options: CUBE to TXT or CUBE to JSON, with TXT selected by default. Choose the format you want, then press Convert and Download. The converted file downloads immediately, using the original file name with a .txt or .json extension, so warm-film.cube becomes warm-film.txt or warm-film.json.
Which CUBE files are supported?
The converter accepts .cube files containing either 1D or 3D lookup tables, the two LUT types the .cube format defines, whether exported from a grading or editing application or made yourself. The TXT option copies any of them unchanged. The JSON option keeps only the numeric rows, so it does not record whether the table was 1D or 3D or its size; note those separately. A 3D LUT has the grid size cubed as its row count, for example 35,937 rows for a 33-point grid.
Why would I convert a .cube LUT to TXT?
Some email systems, file-sharing platforms and content management tools refuse unfamiliar extensions like .cube but accept .txt without question. Converting to TXT is an easy way to send a LUT to a client or collaborator, or to open and inspect it in any text editor. The contents are unchanged, so renaming the file back to .cube restores a working LUT that loads exactly as the original did.
When is a JSON version of a LUT useful?
JSON is the format most web apps and scripts read natively. Photographers and studios who build custom galleries, preview tools or automated pipelines can load the converted LUT values directly into code without writing a .cube parser. The file holds a name and a data array of number rows, which is also a convenient structured layout for inspecting or comparing the values of two color grades. Keep the original .cube as well, since the JSON leaves out the header keywords.
Is the CUBE LUT Converter free and private?
Yes. The converter is free and requires no software. Your LUT is read and converted in your own browser, so the file never leaves your device, and the result is saved straight to your computer. To start, confirm you are a photographer and create or log in to a free Imagen account once, and every tool on the site becomes available.
