Apply LUT to Photo
Apply LUT to Photo applies a .cube lookup table to a photo, the same LUT files used for color grading video and stills. Photographers load an image and a 3D or 1D .cube file, set the intensity to blend the look with the original, and download a full-resolution JPEG, a quick way to test a film look or client grade.

Frequently asked questions
What is a LUT, and what does this tool do with it?
A LUT, or lookup table, is a file that maps every input color to an output color, which is how film emulations and color grades are shared between programs. This tool reads a .cube LUT, including its size and any input range set by DOMAIN_MIN and DOMAIN_MAX, and runs every pixel of your photo through it. For 3D LUTs it uses trilinear interpolation between the table's grid points, so gradients such as skies stay smooth; 1D LUTs adjust each channel separately.
How do I apply a LUT to my photo?
Click the file area and choose a photo. The controls appear. Under LUT file (.cube), choose your LUT; the hint changes to show its name, whether it is 3D or 1D, and its size. Set the Intensity slider, which starts at 100 percent, then click Apply & Download. The graded photo downloads as lut-applied-photo.jpg. If you click before choosing a LUT, the tool reminds you to load one first.
Which LUT formats are supported?
The tool reads .cube files, the widely used text format for LUTs, in both 3D and 1D versions. Other formats such as .3dl, .look or .csp are not supported, and neither are editing presets or camera profiles, which are different kinds of files. If a .cube file is missing its LUT_3D_SIZE or LUT_1D_SIZE line, or does not contain enough data rows, the tool shows Could not read this LUT along with the reason, and you can try another file.
Why does my photo look too contrasty or washed out after applying a LUT?
Every LUT expects a particular kind of input. Many video LUTs are built for log footage, the flat, low-contrast profiles some cameras record, and they add a lot of contrast and saturation. A normal photo is already contrasty, so a log LUT pushes it much too far. This tool feeds your photo's standard colors straight into the LUT, so choose LUTs made for standard, display-ready images, often labelled Rec.709 or sRGB. Lowering the intensity can also tame a strong look.
What does the Intensity slider do, and what is the output?
Intensity blends the LUT result with your original photo. At 100 percent you get the full grade, at 50 percent a halfway mix, and at 0 the photo is unchanged. The result is saved as a JPEG at the same pixel dimensions as your photo, using standard JPEG quality, and your original file is not altered. The page does not show a preview, so if you are unsure, download two or three versions at different intensities and compare them side by side.
Is Apply LUT to Photo free and private?
Yes. It is free, adds no watermark and needs no editing software. Your photo and your LUT are both read by your browser on your own device and never leave it, which matters for paid LUT packs and client images alike. The first time, you confirm you're a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account, which unlocks this tool and every other one on the site.
