Frequently asked questions
What size does this tool resize images to for Threads?
Every image is placed on a 1080 x 1080 pixel square canvas. Threads displays square and 4:5 portrait images well, and this tool produces the square version. The whole photo is scaled to fit inside the square, so its longest side becomes 1080 pixels and the remaining space is filled with white. Files download as JPGs named Threads_ plus the original name.
How do I resize photos for Threads?
Click the area marked Click to upload or drag images and choose one or more photos. They appear in a list with a Ready status, and the Output Quality slider appears. Set the quality, then press Resize for Threads. Each photo is resized and downloaded one after another. Use Clear All to empty the list before your next batch.
Will the tool crop my photos?
No. This tool never crops. It scales each photo to fit entirely inside the square and centers it, adding white bars above and below a landscape image or on both sides of a portrait. That makes it a good fit for panoramas, wide group shots and verticals where you want the full composition visible in the post.
Which formats can I use, and what quality should I pick?
Any image format your browser can open is accepted, such as JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF. Output is always JPG. The Output Quality slider runs from 10 to 100 and starts at 90, which keeps detail clean at a sensible file size. Raise it for fine textures or soft gradients, and lower it if you need smaller files.
How can photographers keep a consistent look on Threads?
Using the same square format with white padding for every post gives your feed a gallery-like frame, especially when you mix horizontal and vertical work. Finish your edit before resizing so color and tone match across a series. If you post carousels, run the whole set through in one batch so every frame comes out at identical dimensions.
Is the Threads resizer free, and do my photos stay private?
It is free, with no watermark and no software to install. Resizing happens in your browser, so your photos stay on your device and are never uploaded. The first time you use it, you confirm you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account, which unlocks all of the tools.
