Frequently asked questions
What does the Batch Watermark Tool do?
It adds the same text watermark to a whole batch of images. Your text is drawn in white near the bottom left corner of each image, sized to one twentieth of the image width so it scales with the photo. You choose the opacity, and every watermarked image downloads as a PNG with watermarked_ added to the start of its original file name.
How do I add a watermark to multiple images?
Click the upload area or drag your images onto it. They appear in a list marked Pending, and the Watermark Text and Opacity settings open. Type your text, set the opacity, then click Apply Watermark & Download. Each image shows Processing and then Done as its watermarked copy downloads. If the text field is empty, the word Watermark is used.
How does the Opacity setting work?
Opacity runs from 0.1 to 1 in steps of 0.1 and starts at 0.5. At 0.1 the text is very faint, at 1 it is solid white, and 0.5 sits halfway. For a credit that does not compete with the photo, 0.3 to 0.5 usually works well. Because the text is white, it shows best over darker areas, so check images with bright lower corners.
Why are the watermarked files saved as PNG?
PNG is lossless, so adding the watermark does not introduce new compression artifacts to your photo. The trade-off is file size: photographs saved as PNG are larger than JPGs. If you want smaller files for social media or your website, use Batch Watermark Photos, which saves JPGs, or compress the PNGs afterward with the Batch Photo Compressor.
What should my watermark text say?
Keep it short and useful. Your studio name or website address works best, because it credits you and tells viewers where to find more of your work when images are reshared. Avoid long phrases, which become large across the frame since text size follows image width. A copyright symbol with your name and year is another common choice for portfolio images.
Is the Batch Watermark Tool free and private?
Yes. It is free, needs no software and adds only the text you type. Your images are processed in your own browser and never uploaded. To use it, you confirm you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account once, which unlocks every tool. Imagen also makes AI photo editing software that learns your personal editing style.
