Invisible Watermark Tool
Invisible Watermark Tool hides a short text message inside your photo without any visible change. It writes the text into the least significant bits of the image's pixel data, so the picture looks identical while carrying your note, such as a name or copyright line. The watermarked file downloads as a lossless PNG, created in your browser.

Frequently asked questions
How does an invisible watermark work?
Each pixel's color is stored as numbers from 0 to 255. Changing the last binary digit, the least significant bit, alters a value by at most 1, which the eye cannot see. The tool converts your text to binary, stores it bit by bit in the red channel of the image's first pixels, and ends it with a marker so the message can be located.
How do I add an invisible watermark?
Click the image area and choose a PNG or JPG; other image types your browser can open work too. The settings appear with the field Enter Watermark Text. Type your message, such as your name and the year, then click Apply Invisible Watermark. The image downloads as a PNG with watermarked_ added to the start of its file name. If you leave the field empty, the word WATERMARK is used.
Why is the watermarked file saved as PNG?
The hidden bits only survive lossless storage. PNG keeps every pixel value exactly, so the message stays intact. Saving the image as JPG, resizing it, or posting it to a platform that recompresses images rewrites those bits and erases the message. That is why the download is always a .png file, even when your original was a JPG, so keep the PNG as your marked master copy.
How long can the watermark text be?
Each character takes 8 bits, or more for accented and non-Latin characters, and each bit uses one pixel. A 50-character copyright line needs about 400 pixels, a tiny fraction of even a small image, so practical messages always fit. Keep the text short and specific, such as your name, a year and an image or client reference.
Does an invisible watermark protect my photos from theft?
It is a quiet proof-of-origin marker rather than a security measure. It does not stop anyone from copying an image, and recompression or editing removes it. It is most useful for files you deliver or archive as PNG, where you may later want to show the image came from you. For public sharing, combine it with metadata and a visible watermark where appropriate.
Is the Invisible Watermark Tool free and private?
Yes. It is free and needs no software. The watermark is written in your browser on your own device, so your photo and your message never leave it. Before first use, you confirm you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account; after that, every tool is unlocked.
