Text Watermark Creator

Text Watermark Creator stamps your name, studio or copyright line onto a photo before you share it. Photographers can set the text, color, size from 10 to 300 pixels and opacity, then place it in a corner, in the center or tiled diagonally across the frame, with a live preview. The watermarked image downloads at full resolution.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Text Watermark Creator and how does it work?

It is a free browser tool that places a line of text over a photo. Drop or choose an image, type your watermark text, and adjust its color, size and opacity while a live preview shows the result at your photo's full resolution. Choose one of five positions or Tile, which repeats the text diagonally across the whole image. The text is drawn in a fixed bold sans-serif font. Click Download Watermarked Image to save the result.

How do I adjust the transparency of my watermark to ensure it does not distract from the photo?

Use the Opacity slider, which runs from 1 to 100 percent and starts at 50. Lower values let more of the photo show through the letters, so the mark is visible without pulling attention from the subject; higher values make it harder to remove or ignore. Watch the preview as you drag the slider and stop where the text is legible but quiet. Choosing a color close to the surrounding tones also makes a mark less intrusive.

Why should professional photographers use a text watermark on their digital proofs?

Proofs are often shared before a client has paid or chosen final images, and a visible watermark discourages screenshots or downloads being used as finished photos. It also credits you when an image is passed around online, so people know who made it. A tiled watermark is the strongest choice for proofs, while a small corner mark suits portfolio and social media images where you want credit without covering the picture.

When is the best time in my editing workflow to use the Text Watermark Creator?

Add the watermark last, to a finished export, never to your master files. Edit and export the image at the size you plan to share, then watermark that copy. Keep the clean version for final delivery, prints and future edits. Because the tool saves a new file named with a watermarked_ prefix, your original stays untouched and it is easy to tell the two versions apart.

What should I do if the text in my watermark appears blurry after downloading?

The text is drawn into the image at its full resolution, and the font size is measured in the photo's own pixels. On a large photo, a small size may look soft or tiny when the image is scaled down for viewing, so increase the size. Blur can also come from starting with a small image, or from a website recompressing your upload. JPEG and WebP files are saved at high quality; for the crispest text on graphics, use a PNG.

How does a text watermark differ from a graphic logo watermark?

A text watermark is simply words, such as your name, studio or a copyright line, so it is quick to create and change for each job. A logo watermark is an image file of your brand mark, which looks more polished but has to be designed first and kept as a transparent PNG. This tool creates text watermarks only, in a fixed bold font. For a logo, use the watermark settings in your editing or gallery software.

How do I add a copyright symbol using the Text Watermark Creator?

Type or paste the symbol straight into the Watermark Text field along with the rest of your text, for example your name and the year. On Windows, hold Alt and type 0169 on the numeric keypad; on a Mac, press Option and G; on phones, the symbol is usually in the symbols section of the keyboard. You can also copy it from any web page. The preview shows it immediately, in the same font as the rest of your text.

What file formats are supported for opening and downloading in the watermark tool?

You can open any image your browser can display, typically JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP. JPEG, PNG and WebP photos are saved back in the same format, and anything else is saved as a PNG. The download is named watermarked_ followed by the original file name. The tool works on one image at a time; reload the page to start on another. Nothing is uploaded: the whole process happens on your own device.

Why is my watermark hard to read against a highly detailed background?

Busy textures such as foliage, crowds or patterned fabric break up thin or faint letters. Try a larger font size, raise the opacity, or pick a color that contrasts with that part of the image, for example white over a dark area or black over a bright sky. You can also move the text to a corner with plainer tones, or switch to Tile, where the repetition keeps the mark readable even if parts of it are lost in detail.

Is it better to use this online tool or batch process watermarks in desktop editing software?

It depends on volume. This tool is quickest for a single image, such as a social post or a proof sent by message, and needs no software or presets. It handles one photo at a time and does not save settings. For a whole wedding or event gallery, watermarking on export in your editing software, or in your gallery platform, is more efficient because one setting applies to every image.
