Animated WebP Creator
The Animated WebP Creator combines a set of still images into one looping animated WebP. Photographers choose the frames, set a frame delay in milliseconds and a quality level, and the browser encodes each frame and assembles the animation, giving a lightweight file for websites, portfolios, behind-the-scenes sequences and before-and-after comparisons.

Frequently asked questions
How does the Animated WebP Creator work?
Your browser encodes each image you select as a still WebP frame using its built-in WebP encoder. The tool then assembles those frames into a single animated WebP file that loops continuously, with the same delay between every frame. The result downloads as animated.webp and plays in modern browsers like a GIF, but usually at a much smaller file size and with full color rather than a 256-color palette.
How do I create an animated WebP?
Click the file area and select all your frames at once. A message confirms how many frames are ready, and the settings appear. Enter a Frame Delay in milliseconds, which starts at 200, and set the Quality slider, which starts at 80 percent. Click Create Animated WebP. The button shows Generating while the frames are encoded, then the animation downloads and the page confirms how many frames it contains.
In what order are the frames used, and what if they are different sizes?
Frames are used in the order your browser lists the selected files, which is usually by file name, so number them in sequence, such as frame-01 and frame-02. The first image sets the size of the animation. Any later image with different dimensions or a different shape is scaled to fit inside that size and centered, leaving transparent margins. For a clean result, export all frames at the same size before you start.
What frame delay and quality should I use?
The delay sets how long each frame stays on screen: 200 milliseconds gives five frames per second, 100 gives ten, and 1000 shows one frame per second, which suits a slideshow or before-and-after pair. The shortest delay accepted is 10 milliseconds. Quality controls the WebP compression: around 80 percent balances detail and size well, higher values give sharper frames and larger files, and lower values shrink the file further. Transparent areas in PNG frames stay transparent.
Which browsers can create and play animated WebP files?
Creating the file needs a browser that can encode WebP images, such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox. If your browser cannot, the tool shows a message instead of saving a broken file. Playing the finished animation is much easier: all current major browsers display animated WebP, as do many image viewers and content management systems. Some older desktop software and email clients may show only the first frame, so check where the file will be used.
Is the Animated WebP Creator free and private?
Yes. It is free, adds no watermark and needs no software installation. The frames are encoded and assembled in your browser on your own device, so your images never leave it. The first time, you confirm you're a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account, which unlocks this tool and every other one on the site.
