Frequently asked questions
What does the Batch Image Cropper do?
It crops and sizes a batch of images to the exact width and height you choose. For each photo, the tool cuts out the largest area that matches your target shape, using the crop position you pick, and then scales that area to your dimensions. Every result has identical pixel dimensions, which is ideal for grids, thumbnails and templates where consistent sizing matters.
How do I crop multiple images at once?
Click the upload area and select your images. They appear in a list marked Ready, and Crop Settings opens with width and height fields, both set to 500 pixels. Enter your target size, choose a Crop Position, then click Start Batch Crop. Each file moves from Processing to Done and downloads automatically with cropped_ added to the start of its original file name.
How does the Crop Position option work?
Crop Position decides which part of each photo is kept. Center keeps the middle. If an image is wider than your target shape, Left or Right keeps that side. If it is taller, Top or Bottom keeps that end. Top is useful for portraits where faces sit high in the frame, while Center works for most product and landscape shots.
What format are the cropped images saved in?
Every cropped image is saved as a PNG, which is lossless, so cropping and scaling add no compression artifacts. PNG files of photographs are larger than JPGs. If you need smaller files for web use or email, run the cropped set through the Batch Photo Compressor or the Batch Format Converter afterward. Transparency in the original images is kept, since PNG supports it.
What sizes should I use for common photography needs?
Match the size to where the images will appear. Square crops such as 1080 by 1080 pixels suit social grids and gallery tiles. A 4 by 5 portrait shape such as 1080 by 1350 works well for vertical social posts. Wide formats such as 1920 by 1080 fit website banners and slideshows. Because each crop is scaled to your size, avoid targets larger than your smallest original.
Is the Batch Image Cropper free to use?
Yes. The cropper is free, adds no watermark and needs no software. Your photos are processed in your own browser and never uploaded. To unlock it, you confirm you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account once, which opens every tool. Then you can crop as many batches as you need for galleries, products or social posts.
