Frequently asked questions

What does the Batch Image Resizer do?

It scales a batch of images to the exact width and height you enter and saves each one as a JPG at the quality you choose. Every output has the same pixel dimensions, so the set is consistent for galleries, slideshows, product listings and web pages. Each file downloads separately with resized_ added to the start of its original file name.

How do I resize multiple photos at once?

Click the upload area and select your photos. They appear in a list marked Pending, and the settings open. Enter the width and height in pixels under Target Dimensions, which start at 800 by 600, and set the Quality slider. Click Process & Download All. Each file shows Processing and then Done as its resized JPG downloads automatically.

Does the resizer keep the aspect ratio?

No. Each image is scaled to exactly the width and height you type, so if those numbers do not match the photo's shape, it will look stretched or squashed. To avoid distortion, enter dimensions with the same ratio as your originals, such as 1200 by 800 for 3 by 2 camera files. For mixed orientations, use the Batch Image Cropper, which crops to shape before sizing.

What quality setting should I use?

The Quality slider runs from 10 to 100 percent and starts at 90, which keeps resized photos crisp with sensible file sizes. Use 85 to 95 for portfolio and client previews, and 70 to 80 for email or web pages that must load quickly. All output is JPG, so transparent areas in PNG or WebP files are not preserved.

What pixel sizes work best for web and social media?

For full-width website images, 2000 to 2500 pixels on the long edge looks sharp on most screens. Blog and gallery images often work at 1200 to 1600 pixels. Email attachments are comfortable around 1000 to 1600 pixels. Social platforms commonly display around 1080 pixels wide. Resizing to these sizes before uploading gives you control over sharpness instead of leaving it to the platform.

Is the Batch Image Resizer free and private?

Yes. It is free, adds no watermark and requires no installation. Resizing runs in your browser, so your photos stay on your own device and are never uploaded. The first time you use it, you confirm you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account, which unlocks every tool. Imagen also makes AI editing software that learns your style.
