AI to JPG Converter
The AI to JPG Converter turns Adobe Illustrator files into JPG images without opening Illustrator. It renders the first artboard of each .ai file on a white background at high resolution and saves a JPG, so photographers and designers can preview logos, watermarks and layouts or send them to clients. Several files convert in one go.

Frequently asked questions
Which Illustrator files can the AI to JPG Converter open?
Any .ai file saved with PDF-compatible content, which Illustrator has done by default since the CS versions through its Create PDF Compatible File option. The tool reads that content and renders it. Older PostScript-based .ai files, or files saved with the option turned off, contain nothing it can draw, and they are marked Not a PDF-compatible .ai file. To fix one, open it in Illustrator and save it again with Create PDF Compatible File ticked.
How do I convert AI files to JPG?
Click the file area and select one or more .ai files. Each one is listed as Pending. Click Convert to JPG, and the tool works through the list: every file shows Converting and then Done, and its JPG downloads automatically with the same name as the original and a .jpg extension. If a file cannot be read, its status explains why and the remaining files still convert. Your browser may ask once for permission to download several files.
What resolution are the JPG files?
The artwork is rendered from its vector data, so edges stay crisp. Small and medium artboards are drawn at up to four times their size in points, capped so the long edge reaches about 4096 pixels: a Letter-size artboard becomes 2448 by 3168 pixels, and a 1920 by 1080 point artboard becomes 4096 by 2304. Artboards wider than 4096 points are rendered at one pixel per point. The JPG is saved at 90 percent quality, a good balance of detail and file size.
What happens to transparent areas?
JPG does not support transparency, so the tool places the artwork on a white background before saving. Anything transparent in your Illustrator file, including the empty space around a logo, becomes white in the JPG. That suits previews, contact sheets and email attachments. If you need the transparency kept, for example for a logo or watermark you will place over photos, use the AI to PNG Converter on this site instead, which keeps the background transparent.
Does it convert every artboard in the file?
No. The tool renders only the first artboard of each .ai file. If your document has several artboards, such as a logo in different versions or a set of social graphics, the others are not included. To convert them, save each artboard as its own Illustrator file, or reorder the artboards so the one you need comes first, then convert again. Everything visible on the first artboard is flattened into a single image.
Is the AI to JPG Converter free and private?
Yes. It is free, adds no watermark and does not require Illustrator or any other software. Your files are rendered by your browser on your own device and never leave it, which matters for unreleased client logos and brand work. The first time, you confirm you're a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account, which unlocks this tool and every other one on the site.
