Vertical Lines Correction

Vertical Lines Correction straightens photos and scans whose vertical lines lean to one side. It finds strong near-vertical edges, such as walls, door frames, poles or page edges, measures their tilt up to 20 degrees, then rotates the image and crops slightly so no blank corners remain. Photographers can apply the full correction or only part of it.

Frequently asked questions

What does Vertical Lines Correction do to an image?

It measures how far the strong vertical lines in your image lean, such as walls, door frames, poles or the edges of a scanned page, and rotates the image by that amount so they stand straight. It then enlarges the rotated picture just enough to fill the original frame, so there are no blank corners. The result keeps your image's pixel dimensions and is saved with corrected_ in front of the original name.

How do I use Vertical Lines Correction?

Click the upload area and choose an image. Set Correction Strength if you want less than the full correction, then click Correct Verticality. The tool analyzes the image, rotates it, and downloads the result straight away, along with a message saying how many degrees it turned the picture. JPEG, PNG and WebP files are saved in the same format; other formats are saved as PNG.

How does the Correction Strength setting change the result?

Correction Strength sets how much of the detected tilt is removed, from 1 to 100 percent, and starts at 100. At 100, the vertical lines are made fully upright. Lower values rotate the image only part of the way, for example 50 percent removes half the lean, which can look more natural when a slight tilt is intentional or when you prefer a gentler fix with less cropping.

Does the tool straighten or rotate tilted images?

Yes. It detects the tilt from the image's own near-vertical lines, within 20 degrees either way, and rotates the whole picture to correct it. It corrects rotation only. It does not fix converging verticals caused by tilting the camera up at a building, known as keystone or perspective distortion, which needs a perspective correction in an editor. If no clear vertical lines are found, the tool tells you and leaves the image unchanged.

Which images work best?

Images with clear, straight vertical lines: interiors with walls and door frames, architecture shot from a level position, street scenes with poles, and scanned documents or prints whose edges and text columns lean. Landscapes with a natural horizon but no vertical structures, busy foliage and soft or blurred images may give no result, because there are no strong verticals to measure. Shooting with the camera level gives the best starting point.

Is Vertical Lines Correction free and private?

Yes. It is free, adds no watermark, and runs entirely in your browser, so your images are analyzed and straightened on your own device and never leave it. The original file is not changed; the straightened copy downloads as a new file. On first use, you answer that you are a photographer and sign up for or log in to a free Imagen account, which unlocks every tool.
