Kodak K25 to JPG
The Kodak K25 to JPG converter helps photographers open files from early Kodak digital cameras such as the DC25 without legacy software. It looks inside each K25 file for the JPEG preview the camera stored, rotates it correctly and saves it as a JPG at the quality you choose. Convert a whole folder at once in your browser.

Frequently asked questions
What is the K25 file format, and why do I need to convert it?
K25 is an early proprietary raw format from Kodak, used by legacy digital cameras such as the Kodak DC25. Most current operating systems, browsers and image viewers cannot open it. Converting gives you JPG copies that can be viewed, shared and edited on any device. This tool does that by extracting the JPEG preview stored in each file, so it works with files that contain one.
How do I use the Kodak K25 to JPG conversion tool on Imagen AI?
Click the drop area to select your K25 files, or drag several onto it at once. Choose your output quality with the slider, then click Convert to JPG. Working entirely in your browser, the tool extracts the largest JPEG image embedded in each K25 file, applies its orientation and saves it at the quality you selected. Each JPG downloads automatically as soon as it is finished.
How does converting a K25 file to JPG compare to converting it to TIFF?
JPG favors small files and universal compatibility: it uses lossy compression, which suits sharing, email and general viewing. TIFF stores pixels without loss and is preferred for archiving and heavy editing. Note that this tool produces JPG from the camera's embedded preview, so the image starts as an 8-bit preview either way; the format choice decides only how that image is stored.
When should a photographer prioritize converting their archival K25 files?
Do it when you organize legacy portfolios, prepare older images for a client, or move an archive to new storage. Software that reads K25 is long obsolete, so making viewable copies now protects you against losing access. It is especially worth doing before you retire an old computer or drive that may still hold the original Kodak software, and while your old media are still readable.
Why do my converted JPG files look slightly different in color than the original K25 files?
The JPG is the preview the camera rendered when the photo was taken, with its own white balance and color processing. Raw software, including the original Kodak programs, develops the sensor data separately and can render it differently, so the two may not match. This tool does not re-interpret the raw data. If you need closer color, adjust the JPG in your photo editor after converting.
Why is the Kodak K25 to JPG tool offered as a free service?
The tool is free to help photographers keep access to their early digital work, which is often locked in formats nobody supports anymore. It adds no watermark and charges nothing per image. The only step is a free Imagen account, created once after you confirm you are a photographer, which unlocks every tool on the site.
Does converting from K25 to JPG strip the original metadata from the photograph?
Yes. The JPG is created fresh from the embedded preview, so EXIF details such as the capture date, camera model, shutter speed and aperture are not copied into it. The tool does read the orientation and rotates the image accordingly. Keep the original K25 files if you need that shooting data, or add the key details in your photo software.
How can I convert multiple K25 files at the same time?
Select a whole group of K25 files in your file browser, or drag them onto the drop area together; you can also add more before converting. When you click Convert to JPG, the tool works through the list one file at a time and downloads each JPG as it finishes, skipping any already done. Allow multiple downloads if your browser asks. Click Clear List to start over.
What should I do if the Kodak K25 to JPG converter fails to process my file?
If a file shows No preview image found, it does not contain a JPEG preview the browser can decode, and the tool cannot develop the raw sensor data instead; this can happen with files from the earliest cameras. If the preview could not be decoded, the file may be damaged by years on old drives or discs, so try another copy. Check the file size looks normal for its era.
Is it safe to delete my original K25 files after converting them to JPG?
No, keep them. The JPGs are excellent for viewing and sharing, but they hold only the camera's 8-bit preview, while the K25 files are your digital negatives with the full sensor data. Keeping the originals means you can develop them again if better raw software becomes available, or reprocess them with different color and tone choices in the future.
