Frequently asked questions
What does the ICO to TIFF Converter do?
It opens .ico files in your browser and saves the icon image as a TIFF, a format that layout programs, print shops and archival systems widely accept. You can convert one icon or many in a single pass, and each output keeps the original file name, so it is easy to match converted files to their sources.
How do I convert icons to TIFF?
Click the upload area and select your ICO files; you can pick several at once. Each file appears in the list marked Pending, and the Convert All to TIFF button turns on. Click it and the tool processes the files in order, each showing Processing and then Ready as its download is saved. Allow multiple downloads if your browser asks.
Why use TIFF for icons and logos?
TIFF is a common requirement in print and publishing workflows, where page layout software and prepress systems expect it. Converting icon artwork to TIFF lets you place a logo or symbol into brochures, books or documentation without format errors. For websites and email, PNG is usually the better choice because the files are smaller.
Will the icon be resized or lose quality?
No resizing takes place. The icon is saved at the pixel dimensions your browser decodes from the file, as an uncompressed TIFF, and transparent areas are kept as an alpha channel. Keep in mind that icons are small, often 256 pixels or less, so they will look soft or pixelated if enlarged for print. For large printed logos, start from the original high-resolution artwork.
Can I convert many icons at once?
Yes. The file picker accepts multiple .ico files, and Convert All to TIFF processes the full list in one go, updating each file's status as it finishes. This is handy when you are moving an old icon set into a documentation or print project. For very large sets, convert in smaller groups to keep downloads manageable.
Is the ICO to TIFF converter free?
Yes. It is free, adds no watermark and needs no installation. Your files are converted in your browser on your own device and never uploaded. The first time you use a tool, you confirm you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account; every tool is unlocked after that.
