Hasselblad 3FR to JPG

Hasselblad 3FR to JPG gives medium format photographers a quick, shareable JPG of each 3FR raw file. It pulls out the JPEG preview your camera embedded in the raw file, turns it upright using the file's orientation, and saves it at the quality you choose. Convert one file or a whole batch, entirely in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Hasselblad 3FR to JPG converter?

It is a free browser tool that turns Hasselblad 3FR raw files into JPGs you can view and share anywhere. Browsers cannot develop raw sensor data, so the tool does not render the raw image itself. Instead, it finds the JPEG preview the camera stored inside the 3FR file, the same rendering you see on the camera's screen, and saves it as a new JPG. That makes it ideal for proofs, client previews and quick web posts without opening a raw editor.

How do I convert a Hasselblad 3FR to JPG using this tool?

Drag your 3FR files onto the upload area, or click it to browse. Each file appears in a list with its size, marked Ready. Set the JPG Export Quality slider, which runs from 10 to 100 percent and starts at 95, then click Convert to JPG. Each file shows Extracting, then Done, as its JPG downloads with the original file name. If your browser asks whether the page may download several files, allow it.

Why should I convert my 3FR files to JPEG instead of keeping them as raw?

Keep your 3FR originals for archiving and serious editing; the JPG serves practical, immediate needs. Medium format raw files are large and need software that supports Hasselblad's format, so many phones, tablets and client computers cannot open them. A JPG is small and opens everywhere, which makes it the right format for emailing proofs, sharing sneak peeks on social media or reviewing a shoot on a device without raw support.

When is the best time in my workflow to use the Hasselblad 3FR to JPG tool?

Right after a shoot, when you need proofs fast. Before importing everything into your catalog for detailed editing, convert a batch of 3FR files and send the JPGs to an art director or client for initial selects. Once the selects come back, edit only the chosen frames from the original raw files. If you edit in a consistent style, Imagen can learn it and apply it to those raw files, so the final edit starts closer to done.

How does a 3FR file differ from a standard JPEG?

A 3FR file stores the sensor data from a Hasselblad camera with its full dynamic range and color depth, along with a JPEG preview the camera rendered. It needs raw software to develop, but it keeps the latitude for exposure recovery and color grading. A JPEG is a finished, compressed 8-bit image that opens anywhere. White balance, contrast and color are fixed in it, so it is perfect for viewing and sharing but has far less room for editing.

What should I do if my 3FR file fails to upload or convert?

Conversion runs on your device, so your internet connection does not matter. If a file shows No preview image found, the tool could not locate a JPEG preview it can read inside the raw file; if it shows The preview could not be decoded, your browser could not open the preview it found. Check that the file opens in your camera or raw software, try another current browser, and convert very large batches in smaller groups to keep memory use down.

Does Imagen AI store my images after the conversion process?

No. The 3FR file is read and converted inside your web browser, on your own device, and neither the raw file nor the JPG ever leaves it, so there is nothing for anyone to store or delete. That matters for embargoed or confidential client work. The tool is free, and the first time you use it, you confirm you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account, which unlocks every tool.

Will converting my Hasselblad raw file to a JPEG reduce the image quality?

Compared with the raw data, yes. The JPG is made from the camera's embedded preview, an 8-bit image with the camera's white balance and picture style already applied, so the extra highlight and shadow information in the raw file is not included. Its pixel dimensions are whatever the camera stored, which can be smaller than full sensor resolution. The quality slider controls only the final JPG compression. Camera EXIF data is not copied into the new file.

Can I process multiple Hasselblad raw files at the same time?

Yes. Select or drop as many 3FR files as you need; new files are added to the list, each with its size. Click Convert to JPG and the tool works through them one at a time, so each finishes before the next begins, and files already marked Done are skipped if you click again. Speed depends on your computer and the file sizes, not your connection. Your browser may ask once to allow multiple downloads.

Does this tool support raw files from all Hasselblad camera models?

The tool does not rely on a list of camera models. It works with any 3FR file that contains a standard JPEG preview your browser can decode. The size and quality of that preview depend on the camera and its settings, so the JPG from an older digital back may be smaller than one from a recent body. If a file has no readable preview, the tool tells you so in the file list instead of saving a broken image.
