Talking Post Session Workflows with Dave Shay

Dave Shay is all about workflows in his wedding and commercial photography business from start to finish. In fact, Dave attributes his workflows to the success of his business.

He did not always have a successful business. But in 2013 Dave photographed over 53 weddings. That is an astonishing number of jobs to take on for one person. At the time he had no systems in place to handle the volume of work he had to do for each client.

That is when Dave created his own systems, or workflows, to help manage his newfound success and his mental health.

Dave was done with burnout. Systems were his answer!

So what does Dave Shay do after a wedding?

At 8 am the next day, an automated email is sent congratulating the couple on their wedding. The email also contains a “what to expect” guide so his clients know exactly what will happen and when.

In addition to timing, Dave’s email talks about print sales, decorating a house, albums, and more.
