Multi-page TIFF Splitter

The Multi-page TIFF Splitter separates a TIFF that holds several pages, such as a scanned document or a batch of film scans saved as one file, into one TIFF file per page. Choose the file, click Split TIFF Pages, and the pages download together in a ZIP. Photographers and archivists use it to get single images out of multi-page scans.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Multi-page TIFF Splitter do?

A TIFF file can hold several images, or pages, one after another; scanners, fax software and some archive systems create them. This tool reads every page in the file and saves each one as a separate TIFF image. When the file has several pages they arrive together in a single ZIP file. Reduced-size thumbnail copies stored alongside the full pages are skipped, so you get only the real pages.

How do I split a multi-page TIFF?

Click the area at the top and choose a .tif or .tiff file; the tool works on one file at a time. It appears in the list as Ready to split. Click Split TIFF Pages and the status counts through the pages, Page 1 of 3 and so on, then shows how many were saved. A multi-page file downloads as a ZIP named after the original, with -pages added.

How are the split pages named and saved?

Each page becomes its own TIFF named after your file with -page- and a page number, such as scan-page-01.tiff, scan-page-02.tiff, numbered with leading zeros so they sort in order. All pages are packed into one ZIP file, which you unzip with your computer's built-in tools. If the TIFF has only one page, you get that single TIFF directly, without a ZIP.

Does splitting change the image quality?

The pixels are not resampled or recompressed with loss, so each page keeps its detail and dimensions. Every page is saved as a standard uncompressed 8-bit TIFF in RGB, or RGBA when it has transparency. That means pages stored at 16 bits per channel are reduced to 8 bits, compressed pages may become larger files, and details such as the original resolution setting and color profile are not carried over.

What if the tool says it could not read my TIFF?

That message means the file could not be decoded as a TIFF. Check that it opens in another viewer and is a genuine TIFF rather than another format with a .tif extension. Some uncommon TIFF variants, such as unusual compression schemes or specialist scientific layouts, may not be supported. Re-saving the file as a standard TIFF in an image editor usually solves it.

Is the Multi-page TIFF Splitter free and private?

Yes. It is free, adds no watermark and needs no software. Your TIFF is opened and split in your browser on your own device, and the pages are saved straight to your computer, so the file never leaves your device. The first time you use a tool, you confirm you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account; after that every tool is unlocked.
