Frequently asked questions
What does the Sports Photo Release Form tool create?
It creates a one-page photo release authorization. The document states that the parent or guardian grants permission to use photographs of the named athlete taken during the named sport or event, gives the date the release takes effect, notes that it covers digital and print media, and ends with a signature line for the guardian. You can print it or save it as a PDF.
How do I fill out the sports release form?
Enter the athlete's name in Athlete Name, the parent or guardian in Parent/Guardian Name, the league, match, or tournament in Sport / Event, and choose the Date. Tick the box granting permission for promotional and archival use. All fields are required. Click Generate Release Form and the Release Document Preview appears below with your details filled in.
How do I print or save the release as a PDF?
Once the preview appears, click Print / Save PDF. Your browser's print dialog opens, where you can send the page to a printer or choose Save as PDF as the destination. Print a copy for the guardian to sign on the day, or save the PDF to email ahead of the event and keep with your records.
What uses does the sports photo release cover?
The consent checkbox grants use of the event photographs for promotional and archival purposes, and the generated document states that the release covers digital and print media. The wording is fixed. If you also plan to sell prints to families, license images to sponsors, or use them in paid advertising, cover those uses in a separate agreement and check any league or school requirements.
When should sports photographers collect release forms?
Collect releases before the season or event, ideally at registration, so you know which athletes can appear in team galleries, club websites, and social posts. Keep a roster that marks who has a signed release, and flag those images during culling so photos of athletes without consent are never published. It saves awkward takedown requests later.
Is the Sports Photo Release Form free?
Yes. It is free, there is nothing to install, and the form runs entirely in your browser, so the athlete and guardian details stay on your device and are never uploaded to a server. The first time, you answer that you are a photographer and create or log in to a free Imagen account, which gives you every tool.
