Frequently asked questions

What is a pet photo release form?

A pet photo release is a simple written permission from a pet's owner that allows a photographer to use images of the pet, typically for promotion such as a portfolio, website, social media, or advertising. Pets do not have image rights of their own, but the photos often show the owner's property, home, or family, so written consent protects both the photographer and the client.

How do I generate a pet photo release?

Enter the Owner Name and the Pet Name; both are required. If you like, click the attach area to pick a photo of the pet, and its file name appears below. Tick the box that reads I hereby grant permission for the use of these photos, then click Generate Release PDF. The PDF downloads immediately and a confirmation message appears. If the button does nothing at first, wait a moment for the PDF engine to finish loading.

What does the generated release say, and what format is it?

It is a one-page A4 PDF headed Pet Photo Release Form. It lists the owner's name, the pet's name, and today's date, followed by a statement in which the owner grants full permission to use the photograph of their pet for promotional use. At the bottom are lines for the owner's signature and the date. The file is named Release_ followed by the pet's name, ready to print, sign, and file.

Is the attached pet photo included in the release?

Yes. If you attach a photo, it is placed in the PDF below the permission statement, scaled to fit the page with its proportions kept, so the release shows exactly which image it covers. Any common image format your browser can open works, and transparent areas are filled with white. If you leave the photo out, the release is generated without it and the signature lines move up the page.

When should pet photographers ask for a release?

Ask before the session, ideally as part of booking, so the owner knows how images may be used. A release is most important if you plan to feature images on your website, in ads, in competitions, or on social media. The form is a simple general template rather than legal advice, so for commercial or advertising use, have your own contract reviewed by a local professional.

Is the Pet Photo Release Form free and private?

Yes. It is free and runs entirely in your browser, so the names you enter and any photo you attach stay on your own device, and the PDF is created there too. Nothing is stored after you leave the page. To unlock the tools, you answer that you are a photographer and create or log into a free account once, and every tool is available after that.
