What does the AI Subject Mask do?
It automatically detects the main subject in each photo, masks it, and makes local adjustments to exposure, shadows, whites and clarity so the subject stands out. It gives your photos depth and focus without manual selection work.
How does it work with my AI Profile?
Subject Mask works on top of your AI Profile. Your AI Profile edits the whole photo in your style; Subject Mask then adds targeted adjustments to the subject only.
What is the difference between Correction and Fixed Value?
Correction nudges the value Imagen chose for each photo up or down, so every photo keeps its own adjustment. Fixed Value applies the same value to every photo. Fixed Value isn’t available for exposure.
Can I change Subject Mask on a project that is already edited?
Yes. Set it up in Choose AI Tools before you upload, or open the project’s menu and choose Adjust Subject Mask to change it mid-project. You can also remove the mask from any photo in Lightroom Classic.
How is Subject Mask different from Background Mask?
Subject Mask adjusts the subject; Background Mask adjusts everything around it. Together they give you local control over the whole frame. For the overall edit, see batch editing, and every tool on the AI photo editing tools page.
