Proof Sheet Generator
Build a contact sheet from a set of photos in seconds. The Proof Sheet Generator arranges your selected images in a grid on a white background, using the number of columns and margin you choose, then saves a single JPG that photographers can send to clients for quick review and selection.

Frequently asked questions
What is a proof sheet, and what does this tool create?
A proof sheet, also called a contact sheet, shows many photos from a shoot on one page so they can be reviewed at a glance. This tool takes the images you select and lays them out in a grid on a white background, then saves the whole layout as one JPG named proof-sheet.jpg, ready to email, message or print for a client.
How do I make a proof sheet?
Click the area labeled Click to upload images, or drag photos onto its file chooser, and select every photo you want on the sheet. The Settings panel appears. Set Grid Layout (Columns), which defaults to 3 and accepts 1 to 10, and Margin (px), which defaults to 20. Click Generate Proof Sheet, and the finished JPG downloads automatically once every image has been placed. Choosing files again replaces the previous selection rather than adding to it.
How large is each photo on the proof sheet?
Each photo is fitted whole inside a 400 by 400 pixel cell with its proportions kept and centered, and white fills the rest of the cell, so a landscape frame sits as a wide strip with white above and below. Nothing is cropped or stretched. The sheet grows to fit: three columns with a 20 pixel margin make a sheet 1280 pixels wide, and rows are added as needed.
In what order are the photos placed?
Images are placed left to right and top to bottom, in the order your file picker passes them to the tool, which usually follows the file names. The sheet does not print file names or numbers, so clients can refer to images by row and column. Renaming files in sequence before selecting them makes the order predictable. A file your browser cannot open, such as a RAW file, is skipped and leaves its cell blank.
How do photographers use proof sheets in their workflow?
Send a proof sheet after a headshot, product or family session so clients can choose favorites before you invest time in full edits. Small cells keep the file light and discourage anyone from using the proofs as finished images. Once the selections are in, edit only the chosen frames, whether by hand or with Imagen applying your personal editing style.
Is the Proof Sheet Generator free and private?
Yes. It is free, adds no watermark and needs no software. Your photos are combined in your browser on your own device and never leave it. To get started, you confirm once that you are a photographer and create or log into a free Imagen account, and every tool in the collection is unlocked.
